Classicist Tom Sapsford (CBA ’19) examines ancient texts that discuss a surprisingly varied number of dance types embodied and enjoyed thousands of years ago. Through movement examples with dancer and choreographer Ashley Bouder (CBA ’19), Sapsford examines the stakes involved in bringing these ancient dance forms to life.

Sapsford recently published the book Performing the Kinaidos: Unmanly Men in Ancient Mediterranean Cultures. Oxford University Press, (2022).
