Featuring:
Avital Ronell – Philosopher and Advisory Council Member, The Center for Ballet and the Arts

Avital Ronell, University Professor of the Humanities and Professor of German, English, Comparative Literature at New York University, delivered a talk centering on philosophy’s largely disavowed dependency on dance. Beginning with Kant’s “pink ballet slippers,” and moving into the work of Nietzsche, Heidegger and others, Ronell, a Spring ’16 Fellow at the Center, examined the significance of dance moves on various conceptual grids.

*Dis-tanz:* Distance and Dance in Nietzsche and Heidegger was presented by The Center for Ballet and the Arts.
